I been to Morocco some years ago with a friend (both female), and didn run into too much trouble (apart from a guy stalking us in a long distance bus, which was very uncomfortable, but luckily it was isolated to that case). We visited Fez, Meknes, Moulay Idriss (and Volubilis), Chefchaouen and Marrakech, of which Marrakech was my least favourite place. Indoor cats do not usually go far, but they are usually quite scared, and he might be hiding and afraid to leave his hiding place the first few times he hears you calling.
